Taste of the South Instructions
**PLEASE NOTE THE FRESH MIXES AND GARNISHES ARE DESIGNED TO BE CONSUMED WITHIN 2-3 WEEKS FROM THE DATE RECEIVED**
Please keep all fresh items refrigerated until consumption.
*We have included a small red solo cup to be used as your measure. The line near the bottom is the measure for .5 oz. The cup full is 2 oz. Anytime you are measuring less than 2 oz, we recommend using the measure of .5 oz to the cumulative total required for your drink.
** We recommend opening the packages using scissors if you have them available. Please cut above the reseal line. Once open, if resealing to use some at a later point, we recommend keeping the package upright and sealed until using again.
Chai Me Down
Bourbon, chai, peppercorn, bitters
What you need to build this cocktail
- Pouch marked Chai Me Down
- Pouch marked chai-pepper
- Orange zest
- mixing jar
- Bar spoon
- Measuring spoon (not included)
- Red solo cup measure
- Ice for building (not included)
- Ice for serving (king cube is preferred)
How to build this cocktail
- Add the contents from the pouch marked Chai Me Down to the mixing jar
- Measure 1.5 teaspoon from the chai-pepper pouch and add to the mixing jar
- Add about ½ cup of ice to the mixing jar
- Using the bar spoon (wooden skewer), place the thicker end to the bottom of the jar, and stir the cocktail for 20 seconds
- Replace the cover to the mixing jar, but leave enough space to strain the cocktail into an ice filled rocks style glass
- Express the oils from the orange zest by squeezing between finger over the drink
- Garnish with the same orange zest
Derby Day
Bourbon, grapefruit, lemon, chai, peppercorn, egg white
What you will need to build this cocktail
- Pouch marked Derby Day
- Pouch marked lemon-grapefruit
- Pouch marked chai-pepper
- Pouch marked egg white
- Shaker jar
- Red solo cup measure
- Ice for building (not included)
- Dehydrated grapefruit
How to build this cocktail
- Empty the contents of the pouch marked Derby Day
- Empty the contents of the pouch marked lemon-grapefruit
- Measure 0.5 oz from the pouch marked chai-pepper, and add to the shaker jar
- Empty the contents from the pouch marked egg white, and add to the jar
- Replace the ring and cover to the shaker jar
- Dry shake (no ice) for 20 seconds
- Remove the ring and cover from the shaker jar, and add about ¼ cup of ice
- Replace the ring and cover to the shaker jar, and shake the cocktail for an additional 8-10 seconds
- Remove the ring from the shaker jar and slide the cover off the jar just enough to strain the cocktail into a coupe style glass
- Garnish by floating the grapefruit in the foam
The Big Smoke
Bourbon, sweet vermouth, bitters, chai, peppercorn, smoke
What you will need to build this cocktail
- Pouch marked Big Smoke
- Pouch marked chai-pepper
- Pouch marked vermouth
- Garnish skewer
- Cherry
- Mixing glass
- Teaspoon measuring spoon (not included)
- Wood chip
- Ice for building
- Lighter (not included)
- Small plate (not included)
How to build this cocktail
- Measure 1 teaspoon from the chai-pepper pouch and add to a rocks glass
- Roll the glass, coating as much of the glass as possible with the chai-pepper
- Discard any excess
- Using the small plate, lighter, and wood chip: light the wood chip on fire and let burn for as long as possible
- Blow out the flame and place the chip on the small plate, cover with the seasoned rocks glass
- Set the smoking glass aside while you build the cocktail
- Add the contents from the pouch marked big smoke to the mixing jar
- Add the contents from the pouch marked vermouth to the mixing jar
- Add about ½ cup ice to the mixing glass
- Using the bar spoon (wooden skewer) stir the cocktail for 20 seconds
- Remove the smoked glass from the plate, and turn right side up and add ice (king cube is preferred)
- Replace the cover to the mixing glass leaving an opening to strain the cocktail into smoked ice filled glass
- Garnish with cherry on skewer
